Welcome teachers of English at kindergarten to 12th grade (K-12) throughout Vietnam to register to attend Webinar 6 in the series of Professional Development Webinars 2019 - 2020 for Vietnamese K-12 EFL Teachers with New Textbook Series. The 6th webinar is ATTENDING AND PRESENTING AT CONFERENCES on Sunday Jun 21, 2020 9:00-11:30 (Vietnam time). Our featured speaker is Dr Vu Thi Thanh Nha, Faculty of English, the University of Languages and International Studies, VNU.
Vu Thi Thanh Nha obtained a PhD in Education at the University of New South Wales, Australia in 2014. She is also the dean of the Faculty of English, the University of Languages and International Studies, VNU. Her research interests include project-based learning, educational change, ESP/EMI, classroom-based research, needs analysis, and teacher professional development. Nha has been involved in organising multiple workshops and conferences for teachers at institutional, national, and international levels. She has also been a facilitator for USA-sponsored course on English for Professional Communication for Leaders (2016), and UTS Insearch course on Writing and Presenting Research in English (2018).
Professional conferences provide good learning and networking opportunities for teachers. However, English teachers, especially in the context of Vietnam, find it challenging to make the most of these learning events. In this webinar, we would like to go through a complete process of conference participation from preparation (selecting a conference, getting acceptance for a conference, finding financial support, arranging accommodation and travel) to on-the-day attendance (presenting a paper, attending a presentation, and networking). We will share information to help you understand the process and some tips that you can take actions for your coming conferences.
