Who We Are – Founding Committee
As active members of VietTESOL Association (VTA), U.S. alumni, and lecturers of English at Vietnamese universities with high spirits of networking, sharing and learning, we have established VTA K-12 Professional Development Special Interest Group (or VTA K-12 PD SIG, in short) which primarily caters to K-12 (from kindergarten to 12th grade) teachers’ continuous professional development in English language education in Vietnam.

What We Pursue – Our Motto
Empowering Teachers, Inspiring Students & Promoting Teaching and Learning
What We Aim – Our Vision
In tune with the overarching vision of VTA, we aim to take the lead in offering and advancing continuous professional development experiences for K-12 teachers in English language education in Vietnam.
What We Do
Our Mission
The SIG offers interactive platforms for professional sharing, training, learning and researching among experts, professionals and researchers of English language education.
Our Signature Initiative – The Webinar Programme for K-12 Vietnamese Teachers of English in Using New Textbook Series
The webinar programme for K-12 Vietnamese teachers of English invites featured talks from speakers who are experts of the field and holds sharings from facilitators who are exemplary K-12 Vietnamese teachers of English. Furthermore, the webinars provide specific activities and practical takeaways applicable to the curriculum and the new textbook series currently used in Vietnamese schools.
The webinar programme focuses on four main areas, including:
- English Language Teaching (ELT) Methodologies;
- Testing and Assessment;
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Implementation in ELT;
- Professional Development.
The webinars call for teachers’ initiatives in putting the suggested strategies and skills into practice, in adapting the demonstrated teaching activities to different contexts and in doing action research for conference presentations and paper writing as follow-up activities.
How We Work – Our Operation
We undertake the initiative with concerted efforts and collaborative, rotating leadership, which means rotating to lead the programme yearly and hosting webinar programme alternately among organising committee members.
