VietTESOL Association proudly announces a typical mini-course on Action Research for teachers of all levels in Vietnam.

In this course (tentatively from September to November 2020), participants will be introduced to a classroom-based research process, known as action research. They will engage with each component of the action research process to develop an implementation plan. Upon completion of the course, participants will be ready to conduct action research in their own classrooms and be prepared to present their findings at professional conferences.

There are six live sessions on Zoom platform from 8.30- 10.30 am Vietnam time, on Sunday morning scheduled as follows:

  • Workshop 1: September 13
  • Workshop 2: September 20
  • Workshop 3: September 27
  • Workshop 4: October 4
  • Workshop 5: November 8
  • Workshop 6: November 15

The four-week break between Workshops 4 and 5 enables participants to enact their plans and gather evidence.

In addition to the workshops, the course will include consultation sessions (in office hours on weekdays from Monday to Thursday) that will enable individualized feedback on participants’ action research plans. Participants will book the slots to work 1-1 or in groups to discuss their action plan and receive feedback and professional support from trainer Amy.

The course is designed to place focus on aspects of the action research cycle: explore, plan, act, observe, and reflect. Following a literature review, participants will identify a problem and select a change in practice to resolve it. They will determine which data to collect to evaluate their change in practice. Participants will also be introduced to data analysis resources they can use once they have implemented their plan and gathered data. Since participants may wish to present their action research at conferences, the course will also address presentation skills.

The instructor - Amy King is an English Fellow from the U.S Embassy. She has more than 20 years of experience in the field of English teaching and adult learning in the United States and overseas.

She was an English Language Fellow at Hanoi Metropolitan University. She has more than a decade of experience as a professional learning facilitator with expertise in differentiation, formative language assessment, project-based learning and action research.

After successfully attending the course, participants may be awarded a certificate of attendance certified by VietTESOL Association, RELO Vietnam and the trainer. More proudly, the participants with the best performance will also receive special gifts from the sponsor.

The course fee is 500.000 VND.
