Description

The book Fundamentals of Linguistics and Vietnamese says: “Phonetics provides the scientific basis for building standard sounds for a language, writing for ethnic groups that do not yet have a written language, and improving the writing system”.
“Knowledge of phonetics is very necessary for teaching and learning foreign languages. If teachers have solid knowledge of phonetics and learners also have minimal concepts about this subject, learning results will be better. Because learners do not simply "imitate" the pronunciation of a foreigner but acquire it consciously, based on a comparison of the pronunciation of the foreign language with their native language”.
Learning phonics from a young age lays the foundation for children's foreign language learning. When learning Phonics seriously and systematically from an early age, elementary school students will have a solid foundation in the sounds of each letter and how to connect those sounds together. When communicating in another language, correct pronunciation will help the language be pronounced better and more fluently.
Students in rural areas are heavily influenced by the pronunciation and intonation of the locality where they live. Therefore, providing standard vocabulary and teaching children how to pronounce correctly right from the beginning of learning a new language is extremely important, helping them have the right direction, not pronouncing out of habit or relying on into judgment.
From the difficulties I encountered when teaching and learning English for elementary school students in rural areas, I have thought and summarized some experiences in teaching phonetics to students to lay a solid foundation for their skills. communication of these drunkards, helping them to be more confident when communicating and immersing themselves in the flow of integration in the second language.
