So far, in the research context, there have been arguments about using group work strategies in teaching and learning reading in order for them to be applied consistently and effectively; Also, there have not any researches on the issue in the present research site. Therefore, the study aims at investigating the actual situation and reflection on the current group work strategies employed in reading comprehension classes at high schools. The study surveyed a large number of the students, and some of the teachers of English at the high schools. Two instruments of questionnaires and interviews, together with the method of qualitative and quantitative analyses were employed to collect and analyze the data statistically and descriptively. As a result, two findings indicated the teachers’ response to the current group work strategies applied for teaching reading comprehension, and the students’ reflections on group work activities in reading classes. Thereby, the research, in conclusion, recommended effective and efficient group work strategies, providing the teachers with powerful group work techniques and principles, and helping the students motivate, engage, and get the benefits in reading comprehension classes.
