Description

The advancements of technology have had profound impacts on the development of education. Students known as digital natives are allowed to experience massive types of learning materials and sources via smart applications and develop their autonomy. The article aimed to examine the utilisation of technology and its connection with students’ autonomy in English language classes at a local university in Vietnam. The data were collected from an online questionnaire designed with Google Form. The responses of 96 students on the impacts of technology regarding autonomy were analysed by the statistical software SPSS 26. Ten students who participated in an interview provided deeper viewpoints on how technology influenced their autonomy in learning. The study revealed that students had positive oppinions of using technology to enhance student autonomy. Based on the result, some pedagogical suggestions were made to facilitate learning practices.
